At JotLayer, we take your privacy seriously. We understand that your Notion pages contain sensitive information, and our architecture is designed to respect that. This Privacy Policy outlines what data we collect, why we collect it, and how we protect it.
We collect information in three categories: A. Account Information (Cloud Sync) When you create an account to use our Cloud Sync features, we collect: • Email Address: To identify your account and sync data across devices. • Name/Username: To personalize your experience. • Payment Status: We track your subscription tier (Free vs. Pro). We do not store your credit card details. All financial transactions are processed by our third-party payment provider (e.g., Stripe/Paddle/RevenueCat). B. User-Generated Content (Your Drawings) • Canvas Data: We collect and store the vector paths, shapes, and images you draw on the canvas. • Page References: We store the URL (or Page ID) of the Notion page where a drawing was made so we can display it again when you return to that page. C. Extension Usage Data • Technical Log Data: Browser type, extension version, and operating system. • DOM Interaction: To anchor your drawings to specific text (so they move when you scroll), our extension reads the structure of the Notion page locally on your device. We do not transmit or store the text content of your Notion notes on our servers. We only store the coordinates of where your drawing sits relative to that text.
We use the collected information for the following purposes: • Service Provision: To save your drawings and sync them between your computer, laptop, or other devices. • Authentication: To log you in and verify your subscription status. • Improvement: To analyze which features are used most (e.g., "Do people use the highlighter more than the pen?") to guide our development roadmap. • Communication: To send you transactional emails (password resets, billing receipts) or important product updates.
We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal identification information to others. We use trusted third-party service providers to help us operate: • Cloud Database: (e.g., Supabase/Firebase) To store your drawing data securely. • Payment Processors: To handle billing securely. • Analytics: To aggregate anonymous usage data.
• Drawings: We retain your drawings as long as your account is active so they are always there when you need them. • Deletion: If you delete your account, all your personal data and associated drawings will be permanently deleted from our servers within 30 days.
We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data: • Encryption: All data transmitted between your browser and our servers is encrypted using SSL/TLS (HTTPS). • Access Control: Access to our database is strictly limited to authorized personnel for maintenance purposes only.
You have the right to: • Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you. • Correction: Update your account details via the extension settings. • Deletion: Request the full deletion of your account and data by contacting support. • Opt-Out: You can stop using the Cloud Sync feature at any time and use the extension in "Local Mode" (if supported), though this carries the risk of data loss if your browser cache is cleared.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for other operational, legal, or regulatory reasons. The date at the top of this policy will indicate the last update.
